Baku: Symphony of Sirens. "Sound Experiments in the Russian Avant Garde" (2009)

Este es un verdadero trabajo de arqueología musical, una brillante recopilación histórica y asimismo una extensa investigación de todo avance en el sonido y la música de vanguardia durante casi toda la primer mitad del siglo XX en Rusia. Piezas importantes como Symphony Of Sirens de Arseny Avraamov han sido reconstruidas, y ésta en particular es muy significativa, pues fue interpretada en Baku en 1922 como una celebración del aniversario #50 de la revolución rusa. Esta constituida, como su nombre lo indica, por el sonido de sirenas, de máquinas, coros sampleados, sonidos de locomotora, etc.. y todo aquello que sirivera como buen elemento del motivo festivo para aquel evento público. Y estos son sólo 28 minutos del doble CD, más adelante hay mucho más...

Hay que hacer mención especial a Dziga Vertov y su laboratorio de sonido, así como su futurista Enthusiasm!: Symphony of the Dombass, donde parece divertirse con la manipulación de sonido y las mezclas inmusicales. Tenemos también algo del bien conocido Sergei Prokofiev, un extracto de su extraño ballet Factory, que es otro buen avance para su época.
Se habla también de orquestas de sonidos (Nikolai Foregger), proyectos para radio, incluso se añaden algunos tracks donde se recitan poemas selectos que encajan bien con las intenciones del recopilatorio. Pero será hasta el segundo CD que aparece una pieza que llamó mi particular atención, Zavod, Symphony Of Machines (1924) de Alexander Mosolov, que con su singular sonido mecanizado y extrañamente armonizado es una pieza de música docta muy desvinculada de todo lo convencional de su época, razón que me ha hecho colocarla como la Canción Del Mes de Julio.

No lo piensen más, este material discográfico nos compete a todos los que visitamos este blog, pues allí quedan bien marcados todos los experimentos, bases y mejoras al sonido y a la música que tanto nos interesa. De hecho el sello que lo produce es nada menos ReR Megacorp.
